1. Title

The Dukes’ Club

2. Objects

To represent the views of trainees in coloproctology in the United Kingdom.

3. Constitution and Rules

The Executive Committee shall consist of the following officers, shall be elected by a ballot of ordinary trainee members of The Dukes’ Club at the annual educational meeting together with such other members as the committee shall from time to time determine:

  1. A President, who shall also represent The Dukes Club on the Association of Coloproctology council and any other body not covered by a designated member of the executive.
  2. An Honorary Secretary. The role of the secretary shall be to publish minutes, reports and newsletters together with other documents arising from The Dukes’ Club business.
  3. A Webmaster. The role of the webmaster shall be to update and maintain content on the Dukes Club website.
  4. An Association of Surgeons in Training Representative (ASiT). The role of the Dukes-ASiT representative shall be to attend the ASiT council meeting and matters arising thereof.
  5. An Education and Training Representative. The role of the Education representative shall be to work together with the committee to develop the educational content of The Dukes’ Club annual meeting, and to attend meetings of the Association of Coloproctology education and training committee and matters arising thereof.
  6. An Audit and Research Representative. The role of the audit and research representative shall be to attend meetings of the Association of Coloproctology audit and research committee and matters arising thereof.
  7. A Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) Representative. The role of the JAG representative shall be to attend meetings of the JAG committee and matters arising thereof.
  8. A Clnical Services Committee Representative. The role of the Clinical Services Committee representative shall be to attend meetings of the Association of Coloproctology clinical services committee and matters arising thereof.
  9. A Regional Representative for Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland.

In the event that insufficient nominations are received to fill all available posts, members of the Executive Committee may stand for election to a second unfilled position.

4. Term of Office

The term of office shall be for one year. Except for the position of President, members of the Executive shall be permitted to stand for re-election to the same or an alternative post.

5. Meeting of Members

The business of The Dukes’ Club shall be conducted by the Executive Committee. The Committee shall meet in person or by telephone at least three times per year. It is the responsibility of members of the Executive Committee to attend the meetings for the elected period of office. Failure to attend may give rise to suspension and re-election of said post.

6. Amendments to the Constitution

No addition or amendment of this constitution shall be effective until approved by not less than two-thirds of the voting members of the Executive Committee.
